  • Harold and Maude

    Harold and Maude

Ruth Gordon’s performance is everything. highly recommend the CC blu-ray it looks amazing.

  • Rushmore

a Rushmore kind of day today. the world record holder for most uses of the phrase “hand job” in a movie, and one of my favorite movies. when Max gets his math test back and it’s a C- and his teacher gives him the “not bad” look, I felt that.

  • Popcorn

was very aesthetically pleasing and the villain character was good. it was enjoyable for the most part but felt kind of shallow and repetitive. I feel like it’s probably better on paper than in actuality. the music is fun. extra half star for Bergman name drop, I'm spineless.

  • Down by Law

    Down by Law

    incredibly sweet and endearing

  • Q

I don’t know why but I kept thinking about Frank Henenlotter’s movies durning this (Q is much more tame than his movies).

  • Lost in America

    Lost in America

I love when a comedy is actually extremely funny. this made me giggle and laugh for the whole run. the two lead performances are extremely captivating. my favorite scene was probably where Albert Brooks follows the hitchhiker to the diner.

  • We're Leaving

    We're Leaving

excellent! it gets better every time. this is what I believe real film making is. I think that i’m partial to smaller scale stories like this that present as very normal/realistic but have interesting quirks (like a teenage pet alligator named chopper). i also like when filmmakers are able to use their low budget to create some relatability and charisma in the production. like John Waters.

We’re Leaving does a lot with not very much at all. it has left…

    Dark Glasses

has a very severe case of terrible 3rd act syndrome. the first two acts are not great either. it’s pretty entertaining but never really for good reasons.

  • Creep

I really enjoyed rewatching Creep. i’ve had differing feelings on it in the past but honestly I feel like it’s pretty good now. I really like Mark Duplass’ performance. I thought he made the character feel realistic as well as entertaining. good use of the found footage style.
