It is so easy to write a review for a bad film. So so easy. What is not so so easy is to write a review of a great film.
Possibly one of the best musicals ever made (although I feel that it might be tied with The Band Wagon for that honor), Singin' in the Rain also spoiled me for musicals. Because they're almost never this good and you always go in to a new musical wanting it to be as good or better and you're always disappointed.
On a personal note, this is possibly the one and only time the inevitable ballet sequence, which was de rigeur in the 1950s/60s musical, didn't bore me to tears.
So go watch it. I'll wait right here.
