    “I’m thinking of ending things” is a thought I’ve had in previous relationships, knowing it’s going no where and that you really don’t see a future with said person. But for whatever reason you stay with them. Whether it’s easier to ignore it, the fear of hurting someone, anything really, it doesn’t matter. That point is that thought is there one day, suddenly. You can’t fake a thought. You reason with yourself and tell yourself to ignore it…

    The Void


    While it’s blatantly obvious this film holds its inspirations on its shoulders IE David Cronenberg, John Carpenter. I feel as the film separates itself with enough with tone, style, atmosphere just enough for it not feel drab or un-special. There is a lot of problems here for sure, some characterization and plotting could have used some work but theres a lot to love.  You feel as you are being tethered into the same abhorrent other worldly place as these characters.…

    "We were scum, trash"

    High life is a deeply horrifying and challenging yet beautiful and rewarding experience to sit through, this is my second viewing and I appreciate it even more now.

    Claire denis sets up and grounded world yet it feels surrealist-like and hypnotic the whole way through. This comes from its non-linear type story, gorgeous cinematography and camera work and very appropriate use of music. Music is used in this film in very specific ways.

    Waves is an accumulation of cliches of every arthouse film I’ve seen from the 2010’s. But without the clever writing (or even directing) to give those cliches a pass in any sense . I felt absolutely nothing watching this, no connection too the characters or story it was a complete void of any emotional experience. Unlike others I like Trey Edward Shults and I find it comes at night to be a pretty satisfying thriller about the horrors of anxiety. But…
