Quite literally the epitome of what a musical should and could be. The colors are still my favorite thing regardless (I don’t think that’s good but opinions are opinions).
Pros: Timely themes that could apply to any decade. Great singing and acting. Believable romance (not believable in how it was conceived but it’s based off Shakespeare so). Did I mention the colors?
Cons: Not a flaw but BITCH ALMOST GOT RAPED. THIS MOVIE CAME OUT IN 1961 AND THERE WAS ALMOST A RAPE SCENE.
So, In The End: I may be a sucker for musicals and romance, but this is a masterpiece. Some of the best songs and dancing ever put to a screen.
