Anton Bjurvald’s review published on Letterboxd:
A story about conflict, but without heroes or villains. Manages to create tension from the viewers expectations, rather than from sensationalism. Makes it harder for itself and at the same time so much more interesting.
"Show don't tell" as film critique is cliché, but this is a movie that underlines why adhering to this rule makes for fantastic cinema experiences. Very detailed, without taking from the story elements.
Lastly the acting is fantastic. It's mostly Ben Foster and Thomasin McKenzie doing a lot of "less is more" but in that simplicity you find so much more. Heart breaking and encouraging at the same time.
Movie of the year? Maybe.
