Satantango ★★★★

Directing of Bela Tarr is amazing, and this film, based on a novel by Laszlo Krasznahorkai is a masterpiece by any standard... but instead of 7 hours and 20 minutes it should be around 2.5 hours... the extended scenes have a superb photography, but they were stretched to the level of exhaustion!

Art films are built upon being unique and unconventional, so, by those standards, Satantango is a real art film but at the same time is well developed psychological drama! So, if you can put up with really lengthy black and white movie that is building very slowly a story that is written as a literary masterpiece, go for it.
