Problematic aspects notwithstanding, this one’s a tour de force for Bette Davis. It’s melodrama at its absolute sultriest. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go work on my lace.

The Fog 1980
Decided to revisit my favorite Carpenter a few weeks before Antonio Bay’s birthday. The first 25 minutes are an absolute master class in horror filmmaking and some of the best work in Carpenter and Dean Cundy’s career. That the remaining hour even keeps pace is astounding. Stevie Wayne interrupts those songs too much, though.

Halloween Ends 2022
Look, I love Halloween and the franchise it spawned, but there’s a lot of rhetoric happening about how DGG has insulted the sanctity of the franchise and that’s fucking hilarious. The Black Phone 2021
I’m really lukewarm on this one. It’s pretty drab to look at and I think Ethan Hawke is kind of bad in it, but to be fair, his character has absolutely no motivation to speak of. It’s like a movie made specifically for a prequel. Having said that, I’m glad it did well and if you dug it, awesome!
