It's entirely defensible to give this zero stars or five stars, but any of y'all messing around with one-to-four, what were your expectations and how can you bring your stingy accounting practices to an encounter with the divine? As for me, zero stars with a heart feels right.
Rewarding on a rewatch, but also confirming that I absolutely cannot watch this more than once a year, and may at some point need to watch it in a non-sober state. As Nigel Andrews said of another significant film, "It sums up all existence and gives us a mythology good for every society, amoebal, animal or human, that ever lived." It is exhausting and awful and you can neither force me to watch it nor pry it from my fervent hands.
