I’ll be honest, the first time I watched this movie everything in my mind was set on disliking it. I agreed with (and to an extent still do) the idea that Tessa Thompson didn’t necessarily pass. I’d seen her in enough movies that were in color to imagine that i wouldn’t be able to suspend my disbelief. Boy was I wrong. The performances were stellar but the film still left me a bit lost which I now attribute to a…

When I was younger I used to cry a lot. It wasn’t something I was proud of at the time. I wanted to hold everything in. I know now that there’s nothing wrong with that as it means you’re in touch with your emotions. Regardless of that I still attended to hold everything in even if I’m getting better. As usual with my experiences watching Joanna Hogg this movie was initially slow, then I loved it and now I’m emotionally devastated. So much to think about and process. I know I’m rewatching this along with the souvenir movies soon so maybe I’ll write something more circumstantial then but this is a marvelous bit of movie. Tilda Swinton is excellent here.

“There’s before bones and all and after.”

To the surprise of hopefully no one, I loved Bones and All. My friend saw it as a metaphor for addiction meanwhile I saw a clear connection to queerness—neither cancel each other out really. Luca Guadagnino has always had an eye for openness and a universal feel. It means a lot but at its core it’s just road trip and a love story. Or moreso a story about people who find people that…

Has no reason to be as good at it is. It does follow the netflix formula of easily screenshottable scenes and a cast full of people in something else you can watch on the platform but it still works.

The whole generation z buzzword dialogue criticism while applicable here is ultimately something nearly unavoidable in a good comedy made for our generation these days because let’s be real. We do talk like this. It’s annoying on tiktok and twitter and…
