Daniel PG Simpson’s review published on Letterboxd:
Still love the shit out of this movie, though this viewing did bring a new revelation. In the realm of 90s detective films about serial killers which ride the line between horror and thriller, I prefer The Silence of the Lambs. Both films are clearly excellent, and Fincher's quasi-noir is drenched in oppressive atmosphere, but ultimately Demme's movie feels smarter. As far as I'm concerned, both films are modern classics and I wouldn't do without either of them, but for the first time I do pretty clearly see one as better.
