Dave Jackson’s review published on Letterboxd:
Solo: A Star Wars Story is certainly not as terrible as the initial negative reaction would suggest. It's also rather pointless, adding little to the franchise, and it has something of a late 90s Extended Universe vibe to it. Throughout the film, I was entertained. The action is solid. There's a nice mix of puppets and CG. We get some fun new characters. I thought, rather surprisingly, Alden Ehrenreich did a very solid job as Han. He captures enough of Ford's mannerisms without going overboard and sacrificing performance. Donald Glover is perfect as Lando, and Emilia Clarke does well despite having a messy character to work with. Everyone is pretty good really, except Paul Bettany playing perhaps the least memorable and charismatic villain in Star Wars history. Outside of Bettany and the awful score by John Powell, there's nothing really terrible about the film. I was left not exactly wowed but satisfied.
