haven't felt this way about a film in years. went in—apprised by friends' reactions and my tepidness towards cronenberg's previous flicks—expecting something so middling and left so invigorated. fuck the gossip, infinity pool rocks. insouciantly erotic, unabashedly self-indulgent, expertly acted, turgid and thought-provoking. no doubt an instant favorite, only hoping this reaches cult classic status.
