At first it felt very slow, very much like a documentary, and I'm still not sure if that's the type of thing Zhao was going for, but it turned out pretty good. It's a change of pace to what I've been watching lately, and I say that in a positive way. It feels like a relaxing journey through a stage of someones life, experiencing what they do in a sort of real time.
The cinematography is beautiful, Frances McDormand is excellent.
