Dunkirk ★★★★

Some quick thoughts.
Nolan's best movie because it's his most contained. He let his talent and attention to detail do the work here, and it shows.
It's maybe a little premature to say this - so take it with a pinch of salt - but, Dunkirk easily ranks in my top 5 of the decade so far.
I felt like I couldn't breath. No film in a theatre has left me like that before. It was full throttle from the beginning, all the way till the end, with no stop.
Even the ending evoked a plethora of emotion from me. I may have shed a tear because I'd become so invested in these characters that Nolan puts at the forefront of almost three storiess in one. You can complain all you want about the apparent lack of character development, but it's not needed. This is about the situation the soldiers find themselves in.
Please see this. If you know me, you'll know I was this films biggest critic in the lead up to its release, but now I'm sat here, speechless and overwhelmed.
B R A V O N O L A N.
You've done it again!
