Persona ★★★★★

Whoa… I’m not sure I was ready for this. From the opening, you know this film is not going to be the usual Ingmar Bergman film. After twenty years of making films, Bergman was still continuing to reinvent ways of creating film. Reading about the film and Bergman during this period, apparently he had just come out of a pretty serious bout with depression. After struggling with religious issues in previous films, Bergman seems to have moved on to more existential questions. Umm, I might need more time to process this one.
