    I am no fan of Baz but I gotta say the first half of this banged hard and the musical numbers in the 2nd still banged so I'm giving him the W. The Colonel is the most annoying character in cinema but boy howdy Austin Butler was fantastic !!!! Idk I had a fun time with this and laughed so hard at all the Walk Hard bits.     Everyone wanna make eyes wide shut but the thing that makes that movie special is the camera work is beyond perfect and Brandon my boy you gotta work on that for your next one. There was some solid imagery but there was a lot of idk ... Filler? Idk how to explain as I'm not a photographer or director or whatever but it distracting.

    But, nice themes and ideas which follow the 2022 trend of "rich people really are different."…

    bong owns my whole ass. amazing. so funny! so sad! somehow fantastical?! beautiful cinematography--HE HAND-DRAWS THE STORYBOARDS HIMSELF! truly struck by that shot of the stairs in the rain, with the family going down, down, down, down. only thing missing for me was a scammer montage cut to a talking heads song, which would have made it the greatest film ever made. still, comes pretty close!

    I wanted to like it. I did. Indeed there are moments and themes that I found myself compelled by. But I also went into the theater with pretty low expectations and a learned distaste for Disney and its processes, and a hypersensitive radar for anything that resembled corporate evils.

    All told I came out of the theater more ambivalent than anything, disappointed but not surprised, though still musing over the ideas that had promise. I gave myself a couple days…
