Spencer ★★½

as someone who has watched tons of documentaries on diana, this film didn't work out for me. even though it's beautifully shot, i don't think that portraying diana as a victim in a psychological horror drama is correct on any level.
despite and also because of her frailties, diana was stronger and more determined than how she's been usually portrayed. she was not a doe eyed, passive, scared princess but someone who fought for herself and justly rebelled. i don't find it respectful in her legacy.
besides, i don't buy kristen stewart's acting. rather than impersonating diana, it feels she's mimicking her, in a sort of parody, and it rubbed me off in the wrong way. compared to what emma corrin did in the crown, truly bringing diana alive, stewart's acting is unnatural at best.
