    The Dead Don't Die

Good for some solid deadpan humor but not much else. Lots of self-serving dialogue and meta text that seemed wildly out of place. Bill Murray and Adam Driver are a decent buddy duo and Tilda Swinton is weird enough to be funny in a quirky way. They seemed to want to add something more thematic in like the last 5 minutes for some reason?? Again, out of place and ham-fisted

    The Lighthouse

Not afraid to admit I had to do a fair amount of reading and thinking to understand what it all meant. That being said, Dafoe and Pattinson are at the top of their games. Dafoe’s monologue with his face in the shadows and his eyes bulging out of his head looked like CGI it was so good. The imagery is haunting and the cinematography is gripping. Not a film I need to see again, but it’s hard to not be overwhelming in awe of the technical and performance aspects of it all.

Probably the horniest movie of the last 20 years

    Best of the year.

Brilliantly constructed, brilliantly written, brilliantly acted. Bong is in complete and total control of his craft through the entire 132 minute run time. I could go through how nearly every plot point fits seamlessly into the overarching (and timely!) thematic elements of this movie, but it would take far too long. Suffice it to say that there are ZERO wasted scenes or bits of dialogue and enough going on that it will require several subsequent viewings.…

Takes a very worn out genre and has an infinitely clever take on it. Despite some strange pacing and flashes of clunky dialogue, this is an incredibly unique, creative, brutal, and well-acted story that keeps you interested the whole time
