Suspiria ★★★★½

I know this movie will never win over the people who think the original is a sacred text, but I feel like it's a remake that addresses this idea that a remake should be nothing more than a rebirth in a new vessel (as Markos is meant to inhabit Suzie). Maybe the new vessel has its own ideas about what traditions it should carry over, and what should be unmade rather than remade. Which borders, divisions, and separations endure in our memory?

Also, I will never get over how funny it is that this pretentious ass remake leaned so hard into the dance academy aspect, a detail the original does next to nothing with. I love it.
