Some funny bits here yet the piece as a whole is a little disjointed. Best bit is with the doctor out the window while Hardy on the bed going opposite direction to ceiling.
Likable movie that is well-directed and performed. Clearly this movie was made with affection and reverence towards the legendary comedians. Coogan and Reilly are great. While the story gets a little too on-the-nose sappy here and there, overall it is a great show-business behind-the-scenes story that doesn't fall into too many tropes and traps common to this sort of thing.
It made me want to watch a film or two of Laurel & Hardy's, so job well done here, team!
Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-da
My kids and I watched and they liked this by far
Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-do
This movie's still great and is one of those few
It's a film that's aged well
after all's said and TOLD
A film that still works for the young
and the OLD
I'm glad that I could share this with my girl and my BOY
They're smiles and laughs --- that tells me it gave them some joy
Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-dee
If you are wise, you'll listen to me
You will rewatch this as soon as you can
And I give this a doom-pa, loom-pa
20 years ago at Midnight on this day, May 19th, me and hundreds of thousands of other Star Wars fans were about to see the first new Star Wars film in 16 years.
And then Star Wars and Star Wars fandom was forever changed.
In case you’re curious, for this anniversary rewatch I watched the 2001 DVD release that includes puppet Yoda, as I aimed to watch a version as close as possible to the original release; the DVD did add a few things to the podrace scene as well so to date there has t been an actual theatrical release of the movie.
