something i respect more than enjoy, admire more than like. obviously brilliant on a technical perspective, packed with tons of fantastic shots, well crafted production design and much more. everything is fit together to create an immersive experience, capturing the feel of a royal ballroom or a grisly battlefield. feel kinda bad for not loving this though, it's such a densely textured and thematically rich epic not to mention being an accurate and faithful adaptation of one of the most acclaimed novels ever written. due to war and peace's length i was never really able to stay engaged with the film's narrative, not to mention not really being that engaged from the start. it feels really weird finishing something as long as this and walking away thinking "this is fine", but i'm glad this is something i watched despite not caring for it too much.
