    Invasion of the Body Snatchers


    Love myself a good paranoid thriller, but this snuck up on me in a way I didn’t expect. It’s so scary! There is one image near the ending that should be silly and yet it’s one of the most horrifying things I’ve seen in a while. And the ending is such a gut-punch, while also being remarkably unsettling. Needless to say, it’s held up well from a thematic standpoint.

For one thing, I can't tell if the film is misogynistic and homophobic, or just so melodramatic that all of its characters seem a bit like caricatures.
