Jacob’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is the first Lynch I've seen where the main focus is external, not internal. That combined with the intense mood whiplash, switching from some of Lynch's funniest moments to some of his saddest and most emotional (this is Lynch's most heartfelt movie, I think), and the rather on-the-nose metaphors (the other Lynch films I've seen tend to aim for a state of mind rather than tight thematic focus), this movie really shouldn't work. But it does, because David Lynch is a genius. As is Laura Dern. As is Nicolas Cage.
I have no idea what to say about this film. Which, now that I think about it, is pretty on par for Lynch. Thank god for happy endings, anyway.
