Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi ★★

Sorry but I have to agree with iksvecjart here. I too struggle to see what's so controversial or franchise ending about this film when it continues the same problems that the Force Awakens had. The Last Jedi might not just copy one film but it does take many elements from The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi and combines them with hilariously surface level subtext that bogs the film down and has absolutely no impact on anything. Rich people are bad and profit off wars? No shit and if you were going to go on this detour you could of at least made it fun because Canto Bight is hands down the most boring and dull location I've seen in a Star Wars film. I do honestly dig the themes of failure and how it's important to learn from your failures instead of simply burning them down but again it doesn't change the fact that the characters and situation from the beginning to the end of this over two hour long film have barely changed. This Disney Star Wars trilogy is a shining example of why you need a visionary like George Lucas on board with these because otherwise we're stuck with these forgettable and mundane films that add absolutely nothing to the existing universe and fail to expand it in any meaningful way. Also I'm sorry but the throne room fight is some of the worst fight choreography I've seen since The Dark Knight Rises and being at the most pivotal moment in the film doesn't exactly help matters.
