I'm surprised to say that Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is enjoyable. Honestly, my expectations were really low, Americans tackling European culture? Yeah, I'm sorry if I was skeptical but I have to say that this movie seems to come from an earnest place.
Unfortunately even though fun to watch, the movie has a lot of problems. First of all the plot, we've already seen this story a lot of times. The conflict in the third half didn't even make sense. I wanted them to focus more on the Contest part, they could have showcased more participants. In fact, even though I didn't like the storylines they were put in, I liked all the characters. The best being Dan Steven's Alexander, I wanted more of him!
The songs were catchy but in the long run a bit forgettable.
The acting was good but the accents were too parodistic in my opinion.
In the end, a missed opportunity.
