look, I really needed this pick-me-up after watching manchester by the fucking sea yesterday
what a beautiful movie!! surprisingly sharp writing for 1952, beautiful colorful cinematography, great catchy songs, simple yet effective dance numbers, and donald o'connor who basically carries the entire movie on his back with his sheer charisma and steals every scene he's in!!
my only issue with it is that some of the dance sequences go on for just slightly too long, so you certainly start to feel the length a little bit. though it's perfectly understandable in the context of when the movie was released (watching this in the theater in 1952 must've been insane!!)
