In the Mood for Love ★★★½

Something about that glow, of the lamps, or the cars, or your eyes, stays here forevermore. Sharp turns down lanes unknown, dark little corners and dimmed alleyways where the heart shines in secret. Smoke, bellowing to the ceiling, careening and twisting in the air, fluid shifts and the warmth of a desk lamp. Fingers hop up and reach, almost with a life of their own, but can't compel themselves to a contact. Tempt in a pretty hued dress, little talks in purple suites. No stroke, no kiss, only a single embrace. The pangs of seething anticipation, and the beauty of the lights on the streets. B+
