PUNQ’s review published on Letterboxd:
They did German and English (UK) language re-shots of this movie at the same time as they made this French version, all starring opera singer Jan Kiepura. None of the others have passed my way, so this is the first is my first taste of this story. A super light affair with just reasons for Kiepura to sing. So enjoyment depends purely on how much you can stand these kinds of European pieces of escapism. While it's Kiepura that's the star, it's Pierre Brasseur that brings the charm. Had they cut Kiepura's singing time and let Brasseur be the star, this would have been a lot more entertaining.
