doesn’t really break new ground in cbms but also clearly sets itself apart from the phase 1-esque structure used for the majority of the mcu’s origin films. brie larson is much more charismatic than the trailers would suggest and her chemistry with samuel l jackson is so effortless from the first time they meet each other on screen. i also appreciated how differently the villains were presented in this movie without giving spoilers. but behind all of captain marvel’s usual blend of action and humour, it has a beating heart and message of discovering yourself and never compromising once you do especially for women as carol is constantly told she’s too emotional to do her line of work. oh and happy international women’s day.
