Midsommar

Midsommar ★★★★½

knew this was my favourite movie of the year from the first frame. there’s so much to process from huge amount of lore and mythology to this “festival” ari aster has created to an allegory on break-ups? but it never felt messy and ari always feels completely in control of what he wants his audience to feel. also it’s weirdly comedic too and it works with will poulter providing 10/10 quips. i am never seeing an artsy horror movie at my local again though, so much laughing at scenes which were unsettling.
