Midsommar ★★★★½

nowhere near as shocking or horrifying as Hereditary (which is an obvious comparison, it's the director's only other film) but god damn, if it doesn't make up for that with its impressive visual style and a fantastic character arc for Dani. it's a slow burner with incredible cinnamon tography, impressively creepy and gorgeous scoring, and injections of humor from the main cast that help keep them grounded in reality. don't go in expecting a shockfest like Hereditary, but i promise you will not regret experiencing this world and the horrors and beauty within it.
