Under the Silver Lake 2018
Ok no offense because so many people are lukewarm about this movie; I LOVED IT!!! I usually hate when a film tries to rip a director's style (here: Hitchcock) but this feels updated and fresh. Some parts are a little on the nose about all the We Live In A Society stuff but it doesn't get too annoying. One thing that I'm a sucker for is when a movie spoonfeeds you "details" that make you feel like you're discovering things.β¦

Annihilation 2018
Quite a bit more of an appreciation for this one after listening to The Projection Booth podcast's ep on it; some very interesting discussion about the film vs the book as well as some thematic elements that I wasn't as struck by the first time around. So many hypnotic visuals, and the amazing soundtrack by Geoff Barrow of Portishead fits so well. I love the use of somewhat uncanny CGI, the fact that it's a little bit out of place/"fake"β¦
