Embarrassingly messy. Too busy and just doesn’t stop talking. Pointless scenes that don’t advance anything - like the nuclear explosion and quick sand bit - further weigh it down. A cool premise, ruined.

A perceptive and thorough history of onscreen trans representation told through the experiences of a variety of trans people. There are some really crap discussions on representation out there but this film gets to the heart of why varied, intelligent and sincere portrayals of trans people and their experiences are so vital.

I'm not going to even try to add anything meaningful or constructive about this film because I'm sure it's already been said and more articulately so. But I just loved the way the story was told in its 'paint brush' style (going over each coat in a new layer of the narrative that adds further details to Kane's life), and shot with so much flare and creativity. stunned.
