in another anime-related full circle moment, this was my first exposure to ikuhara’s work and it changed me. it’s incredible how much influence this has had in my life, my work and worldview. since then, i have been fortunate to follow his career and watched most of the work that came out after this. it was interesting to back find out it remains as stunning and revolutionary (!) as it was 20 years ago. also?
