    Channing Tatum’s directorial debut, though poorly titled, tells its story in I way I never would’ve expected. While Tatum’s humor definitely shines through in a handful of scenes, he also attempts to display an authentic experience of post-war PTSD, which makes the heart feel all the more real.

    Enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I would!

    If it weren’t for the incredible performances from Mark Duplass and Sarah Paulson, I’m not sure I would’ve even enjoyed Blue Jay.

    I have no problem with a meandering, mumblecore-esque filmmaking, but the movie’s slow build-up to the final 10 minutes felt very underwhelming, as the script broadly addresses issues with far less grace than they thought.

    I’m a big fan of Alex Lehmann’s directorial effort following this in Paddleton, but this one didn’t resonate with me nearly as much.
