Vampire in Brooklyn:
A vampire from the islands arrives in Brooklyn to search for the one woman who can secure his survival.
Solid movie, I didn’t love it, but I like it. I read that Eddie Murphy only agreed to do this movie so Paramount would free him of his contract so he could go make ‘The Nutty Professor’ with Universal. As an actor though to get a chance to work with Wes Craven, I’d have done that in a heartbeat. Antagonist Eddie Murphy was a little wierd and that accient he was using faded in and out. He had old school vampire qualities which was dope. During one transformation he snuck in his Sherman Klump/Nutty Professor voice. The rest of the core cast Angela Bassett, Kadeem Hardison, Allen Payne and John Witherspoon were all good. As with most humor some of the jokes just don’t land. Also toward the end when Eddie Murphy was full on vampire, weather it was make up or prostetics or whatever, it looked rubbery. I’d say this was another risky role for Eddie Murphy to take on, but I liked it more than I liked ‘The Golden Child’. ✌🏼
