Shaun’s review published on Letterboxd:
"I like to dissect girls. Did you know I'm utterly insane?" - Patrick Bateman
As someone who really didn't like the book, I have to say it's made for good material and Mary Harron has done a brilliant job of adapting it, even keeping the ambiguity all the way until the end. Better than the novel as it cuts out all the prolonged monotony and keeps all the satirical prowess Easton Ellis was after. A broad look at absurd materialism, narcissism, misogyny, and classism portraying it through the eyes of madman Patrick Bateman who knows entirely how fucked up he is. A scarily real lack of empathy of the competing wealthy. Christian Bale is perfect casting as he plays the role with such tongue in cheek that you are both repelled and captivated by him at the same time.
