Not sure that I even liked Gillies' performance all that much, and most of the writing is flat, but the animation is pretty solid and dynamic and the level of homoeroticism is acceptable (honestly my main criteria for success here).

La La Land didn't win Best Picture because the Academy knew it was just a lazy ripoff of the Red Light, Green Light song from the motion picture Girltrash: All Night Long (2014).
I genuinely can't imagine a world in which I would not enjoy an overly earnest lesbian musical about the hardships of living in LA...like I know who I am this shit was made for me.
