Psychedelic, satirical fantasy. A dream-like, hallucinigenic trip into Jodorowsky's subconscious and beliefs. Loaded to the gills with symbolism and satirical takes on subjects including consumerism, materialism, futurism, politics, faith, iconography. Visually stunning, wholly excessive, abstract, brutal, beautiful, decadent, incoherent, uncompromising. Essentially, a journey of enlightenment. The film depicts a Christ-like man who comes into contact with a magician / alchemist, who leads him on a quest to the 'holy mountain' - which unites heaven and earth. A one-of-a-kind experience, not for casual viewers. Designed to provoke the viewer to their own interpretations.
