Rattlebones’s review published on Letterboxd:
A micro-epic about the absurdity of war, the depravation caused by post-colonial pilfering, the delicateness of civilization, and the mental denialism of imperialism. Agnes Godard captures some of the greatest fever dream imagery ever put to camera. Isabelle Huppert as Marie is Denis' most fully formed character, willful, brave, determined, and yet its these characteristics that lead her to tragedy. As Marko pointed out, why isn't this film discussed more as a masterpiece? Easily one of the best films of the 21st century
