The Father

The Father ★★★★½

This has to be one of the absolute worst ways to die. The effortless charm that Anthony Hopkins embodies, contrasted against his tumble and then total fall into the confusion rendered by Alzheimer’s, is simply a sight to behold and to mourn at its loss. You feel for Olivia Colman’s Anne as well, but there’s no doubt that this movie belong to Hopkins end of life misery. I thought the depiction here was impressive and put a movie like Still Alice to absolute shame. Enormously impactful and terrifying, I sincerely hope I never have to experience this.
