Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach

I really don’t know how to review this film which is a collection of Johann Sebastian Bach’s pieces performed by virtuosic musicians interlaced with amateurish dramatic recreations of the man’s life and sexless off-screen narration. It’s porn for Bach enthusiasts and let’s just say he’s very low down on the list of things that could likely get me off.

Although I can appreciate the fact this film essay dates back to 1968 and can be seen as an extremely early progenitor of an entire genre that is now in full bloom thanks to the wonders of Youtube and accessibility of film editing software, but watching Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach was an absolute chore I can only recommend to classical music nerds and absolutely nobody else.
