I'm quite the fan of Duncan Jones, especially his 2009 film MOON, and while I struggled with some elements of his most recent sci-fi film MUTE, I appreciated a lot of its elements. David Fincher seems to be the master of the crime thriller, as every time I see a film he's directed, there's an overall feeling of it being absolute top quality. From the incredible Zodiac to the dark yet brilliant remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Fincher has the genre down to a fine art. Whilst I wouldn't rate Gone Girl over those two films I just mentioned, it's definitely up there.

Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike are simply…
