Ryan Daniel’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is pretty close to being bottom of the barrel Will Farrell. It’s campy and very out there, which is great. But, if a movie wants to be over the top and campy, it also has to be funny, which this film is not. This movie is a hell of a lot more annoying and nonsensical than it is funny. It’s also really uninteresting and drags a lot, and that’s unusual for a comedy like this.
I think it feels so long because it’s structured so strangely. It may seem like a pretty basic structure, but the way they executed it was dizzying. It uses a mini structure, very similar to a seesaw, in which the ‘bad’ and ‘good’ events (which are all literally the exact same event, just done in different ways) continually go back and forth at each other until 2 hours later, it ends. Not a good way to make a movie.
Some of the cinematography is actually pretty impressive though, which was surprising.
