Classic, iconic. Top-tier dark humor, clever satire, and it’s ultra meta without being irritating. The constant breakdown and deconstruction of genre conventions will never get old. It’s one of those “it’s funny cause it’s true” kinda things. The opening scene is an all-timer, effortlessly blending suspense and satire. While the film’s plot doesn’t exactly matter, that’s what makes the twist all the more surprising. Matthew Lillard deserved an Oscar nom just for the “My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at meeeeeeee!” line delivery. Truly one of the funniest lines ever spoken in all of film. Oh and Sydney is the best final girl ever.
