A standalone Godzilla reboot with no connection to any previous movie. Stunning effects with throwback music. Great idea for a non-monster B-plot explores what cynical political dysfunction would occur if a kaiju actually appeared in Tokyo. But in the end, the B-plot drags this movie down. Still better than Legendary Godzilla (2014).
