Mysterious Skin ★★★★★

It is very interesting that Gregg Araki takes note of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character in "Mysterious Skin" as, while being sexually molested by his softball coach as a young boy, truly a founded queer man. Something refreshingly done, but also something still raising questions about how his personality is ultimately developed, the other half of the film showcases a similar take on a boy with the exact same history: only incorporating an assumed extraterrestrial abduction onto his trauma. One remembers, one tries not to, and when both eventually come together to face the truth, they both sit in the dark trying to evaluate what makes them who they are. Complete aliens.
