I remember sitting In Vue cinema one fine July evening thinking this is Ari Asters time to shine, the oscar was surely in his hands after failing to impress the academy previously with his otherwise critically acclaimed 'Hereditary'. 'Midsommar' was surely going to pull it out of the bag. Then I woke up to the real world where the academy point blank REFUSES to acknowledge the horror genre as anything worthy of recognition & when watching Tarantinos 'Once Upon A Time' was happy to jump on the Quentin bandwagon. 2020 would surely award him with his first best picture golden man. Oh boy was I wrong x
Parasite has to be one of the greatest pieces of cinema I have personally witnessed on the big screen and I have the Liverpool Odeon & Mr Bong Joon-Ho to thank for it. Beautifully crafted, every individual scene speaks for itself on multiple levels which I'm sure another viewing or two would only then reveal their ulterior motives. The social commentary is absolutely astounding and its about time Song Kang-hos talents are truly appreciated.
Overall I find it an absolute EMBARRASSMENT some people out there haven't the intellectual ability to sit in a theatre or in front of a screen and read along with subtitles ( excluding those with learning disabilities of course) The arrogance they exude is astounding and they in all honesty don't even deserve to experience this movies greatness. Absolutely lost for words x
In short, It ticked all my boxes x
