I only watched this because most of my friends were drunk as fuck while watching this with me. Besides the fact that the Church scene felt like I was watching eternity travel right before my eyes, it was entertaining to watch half the movie with them and to not watch the other half and just watch my friends go on a downward spiral.
Never have I seen a film from Ozu. But much like Mizoguchi, and many other greats, their reputation has been known by me for a while now and finally I got to see one in its entirety.
