This film isn't even a year old and yet it feels like a cliche to me to call this film one of the greatest of the 21st century if not all time. But now in my mind, I can clearly say that this film's hype is more than deserved. I knew it was going to be great, but I didn't realize how insane this film gets. It's a one of kind experience that demands multiple viewings to even understand what the hell you just watched. One thing I didn't expect going in to really love was the dialogue. Because of the weird sailor language, it becomes really memorable and gives me the strange suspicion that I'll be shouting the living shit out his. Speaking of which, the performances from Dafoe and Rob Pat that spoke this amazing lines were of course crazy good. The cinematography was ALSO entrancing. ALSO ALSO holy shit this movie is hilarious! Ok I'm just rambling at this point. So basically if you were really hyped to see this film, there's a 99.99999999999999% chance you will also fall in love with this insanity. It's my favourite film of the year easily and I can't wait to see it 10 trillion times. PERFECCION!!!
OK SPOILER TIME (IF YOU'VE SEEN THE MOVIE)
Some of favourite scenes included Rob killing the sea bird (A reminder of what Dafoe said about how it's bad luck to kill a gull) and then everything just gets insane. the masterbait scene was legit breathtaking. Seeing Dafoe naked was simultaneously the scariest and funniest thing I've seen in my entire life. And lastly my favourite line in the whole movie is when Rob is drunk and saids, "If I had a steak, I would fuck it."
God I love this movie!
